Port 943

The TCP port 943 is used by the Silverlight program. This program by Microsoft is a browser plug-in compatible with several programs. It can add graphics, interactive and multimedia functionality to the Web browser. The port 943 was first used in the Silverlight version 2 beta 2 release. It is not officially assigned by the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA).

The port 943 is used specifically to hold the policy file implementation. This contains specifications of the socket policy of the program. The policy file allows any socket to be used by the program to connect to servers. Prior to the version 2 beta 2 release, the Silverlight program could only connect to the host that originally served it.

Websites with Silverlight-compatible content will send requests to the computer and access the policy file on port 943.

Once the policy file is read, the ports 4502 to 4534 can be used to send data to the Web browser.

The Offers page allows you to view the Entertainment plans designed especially designed in order to help you subscribe to interesting channels. The entertainment plans display the price, the subscription length (one-time charges for any length of time or monthly recurring) and the included channels. Once a selection is made or changed, the checkout cart is automatically updated.

The interface has been designed to encourage the purchase with its simplicity.

You are able to pick which a la carte channels they want in addition to the channel bundles. Unlike traditional TV providers where subscribers might have to select an expensive 200-channel package to get the 10 channels they actually watch, this solution lets you select only the content you want to watch.

After you have selected the content, you simply click the “CONTINUE TO CHECKOUT” button to finish the purchase. The checkout takes you to the account dashboard where you can add pay-per-view events or previously stored cart items and proceed to their paypal account for the final checkout.

Important: Changing of wording in dictionary might need editing templates

From the Templates Manager area you can edit the look of your site.

Note: From Template Manager control the admin can edit only the Templates.

Images can be changed through FTP only. FTP credentials will be provided to you within your support ticket system.

The path to images on FTP is : /public_html/public/[template_name]/ images/

You can access the Templates Manager area by clicking on Templates Manager link from the left menu of your admin area, like in this picture:

A web site template is just an HTML file that contains the common elements that appears on every page. That can include the navigation links, artwork, a search field, legal text… literally anything!

When we want to edit what is displayed in a page we have in fact 3 tools do achieve our goal:

Change texts (using admin menu -> CMS -> Dictionary editor)

Edit html of that page (using admin menu >CMS ->Template editor)

Edit css (using admin menu >CMS ->Template editor)

We will make a real step-by-step example in order to see all these in action.

Template List

Edit Template Settings

Select The Page To Edit

20. Click here to go back to Templates Manager page

Note: When dealing with images rendered in the browser, you have to make sure that the actual width and height of the image which is loaded by the browser is equal with the width and height specified in the CSS file. Otherwise, the browser will automatically resize the images to fit the sizes specified in the CSS files, which might leads to images looking distorted if the aspect ratio does not match or to bad looking images of the image served by the system is too small or to large. To help with generating proper images, we created a Thumbnail generator tool, which will always generate content images based on sizes you can modify in this section

This is the way the thumbnail engine works:

there are 2 default thumb templates for each of the channel/video/user image: they are called “medium” and “thumb”.

there are custom sized that are used rarely on different pages of the templates (you can control the width and the height directly from the smarty helper functions)

if type is medium or thumb, there is no need to pass the width and height, as it will use the values defined on admin area

{get_show_image show_id=… user_id=… type=’custom’ width=300 height=168 method=’zoom_crop’}

the values will only control the width and height of the image generated by the Thumbnail engine. Please note that every time you change a value, you will have to change all the CSS associated to the actual display of the images in HTML

the values in admin area allows Theme Designers to use whatever sizes they want for their ‘medium’ and ‘thumb’ templates. Of course, you can use the custom option and pass whatever width or height you want

the images are always generated correctly – you can take the path to the image and put it in a new browser tab to check the actual width and height

the images might look distorted or smaller if the corresponding CSS was not updated

Warning: if you want to change the thumbnails sizes, then you must also apply changes in site CSS files. Here you can view how to change CSS files.

Note: This is just one example of changing the design using CSS, but there are many other changes that you can do to change the design as you wish

When you browse through the front website you may find something that you want to modify.

The question is how do we know what to edit in the admin background in order to alter that exact page?

Let’s do it with our real example. Click on Channels button.

Then look at the URL address in your browser. It should look like:

http://www.yourwebsite.com/live

What is important to us is the word after the domain name, so in this situation: live – that represents the name of the page that we will search for in our admin area (in order to edit it).
